Red Bird Youth Collective, Galway Arts Centre’s visual art youth collective, in collaboration with Adrian Duncan, has created a bus tour of Galway county that focuses on the 'Bungalow Bliss' style of house - its design, aspect, and precedent on the land.
The tour traverses the local landscape, visiting various family-run businesses and institutional buildings that contributed to the cultural and aesthetic conditions of the Bungalow Bliss houses.
There will be planning packs provided for each passenger/audience member, which will include a range of drawings, photographs, interactive slides and maps. Red Bird Youth Collective has also designed an audio accompaniment for the tour.
Afterwards, there will be an exhibition opening at Galway Arts Centre. This will include work from Red Bird Youth Collective on the subject of sustainable rural design, by students from UCC School of Architecture.
This project was made possible with funding from the Arts Council’s Engaging with Architecture project award.
